I'd love to speak with you about Mass Effect but I'm getting increasingly frustrated by that franchise... I went out and bought ME 2 and lo and behold, my graphics card doesn't hold up... Also - I can't return the game now - futureshop says they won't accept it cause it's been opened. Sucks to be me.

As a consolation, my bud Andrew lent me ME 1 and my graphics card is still not good enough! sucks to be me.. So, I guess I don't get to play their games.

I was also a bit put off by the idea that I somehow need to have an online connection to play this and the extent to which the franchise was running co-sponsoring events and promotions with soda companies.. weird.

anyhow - the games looked fun but shit man, it's frustrating when teck doesn't go your way.

I played on Xbox360 and didn't have any problems. There are some hick ups like in the first game, but a lot less of them.
I finished the game about 3 weeks ago and i gotta say i'm kind of disappointed. The first game's got pacing issues, but it's got a lot more personality. If you have an xbox, play the first game. The second game is technically a lot better, but the story is missing the magic that the first one had :/ Having said that, it's an above average game and i'm definitely going to play the third game to see how the trilogy ends. The Mass Effect books are pretty good too. They written by the head writer of the first game, so it's not some random author.

yeah - I tried to play it on a PC - hence all the problems I had with compatibility...

Getting a game console sounds like a good idea but the truth is that I don't have a TV and that 90% of the games that come out on consoles aren't that appealing to me... As it stands the only game I'm really looking forward to is Fallout: New Vegas and I feel it'll be worth to use that one as an excuse to buff up my PC's vid cards if it requires it...

Unless I'm mistaken and there's shitloads of truly awesome games on consoles that I don't know about? What else do you play? The only games I seem to like are sandbox style high-immersion games (Fallout, Baldur's Gate, GTA). Any suggestions?

Hm... well there aren't too many exclusives for any console nowadays. Do you really want to get a console? If so, you could try and hook up your console to your pc monitor. If not, then it's not really worth it.

I'm looking forward to Blur, but that's coming out on PC too. For most games, consoles work well and you don't need to worry about compatibility issues. That's why I like them. There's some good XBLA games, like Trials HD is super fun. Most games are cross platform nowadays.
